Kuchuro began with a pile of olive cuttings in a Messinian field, waiting to be burned. There had to be a better ending. There was.
Every olive tree in Greece is pruned. Every vine is cut back. For three thousand years most of that wood has been set alight in the field — a quick orange flare, then nothing. We intercept it, dry it slowly, and send it to people who take fire seriously.
Kuchuro started in 2021 in a village north of Kalamata. We work with a small group of olive and vine farmers whose families have worked the same land for generations. Everyone in the chain has a name and a phone number.
One country, two species, one drying method, one bag at a time. If we ever can't guarantee that, we tell you.
"Not every fire is the same. Neither is the wood."
